28 Topping Ideas for Smoothies
I don’t know when smoothie bowls became such a trendy thing…and maybe it was so long ago they’re not even trendy anymore, but at one point it became a thing. For me, the outcome has become a forever-kind-of-love for my colourful smoothies.
What’s the big deal though? Smoothies in a glass, smoothies in a bowl…it’s all the same thing, right?
To me, they’re not. The main difference is surface area. There’s so much room for toppings with smoothie bowls.
Smoothies in a glass = I drink them.
Smoothies in a bowl = I eat them like cereal.
And they’re pretty.
So today, I thought it’d be fun to share some fun topping ideas. I’ve scoured my brain and the internet for inspiration and crammed them into this list. You’re welcome.
- Almond slivers
- Banana slices and swirls of almond butter
- Berries – raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries
- Stuffed chocolate raspberries
- Chia seeds and hemp hearts
- Small pieces of fruit leather (try this protein fruit rollups!)
- Crumbled cookie dough bites
- Bee pollen
- Coconut cream and sprinkles
- Shaved coconut and raw cacao nibs
- Homemade granola
- Whipped cream with fresh cherries
- Goji berries, trail mix, and dried apple slices
- Frozen grapes and chocolate covered strawberries
- Pumpkin seeds and dried cranberries
- Wholegrain cereal
- Maple syrup swirls with pecans
- Walnuts and dark chocolate chips
- Fruit salad
- Chopped superfood fudge (or this healthy chocolate PB fudge)
- Cinnamon and dried bananas
- Cashew halves and pomegranates
- Muesli and raisins
- Blackberries and kiwis
- Vanilla yogurt and mango chunks
- Small squares of banana bread
- Sunflower seeds and apple pieces
- Swirls of all-natural fruit jam
I also really love the idea of using half of a honeydew or cantaloupe as the bowl and then filling it with a smoothie! This is next on my list to try.
