Shaking Things Up
So much fun happening around here.
Lots of smoothies…and I mean, BIG smoothies! The smoothie in the above picture is correctly named the “Big Boy” smoothie from the THM book. People, if you want yummy, low sugar recipes – this book is where it’s at. If you follow my Instagram channel, you’ll notice I use a lot of their recipes.
I’ve loved seeing all the activity on Twitter! YOU GUYS make me smile!
Sometimes I get stuck in a rut with smoothies and just make a recipe over and over again (because if it tasted good once, it’ll taste good again right?!). However, this challenge is not just about smoothies…I want to get creative, try new low sugar recipes, and not get stuck in doing the same thing.
I love topping my smoothies with chia seeds and almond slices, but I’ve noticed a lot of creativity from the peeps doing the challenge. From millet puffs, pumpkin seeds, goji berries, fruit slices, and layers of spirulina, you guys are getting creative. This makes me realize I NEED to step up my game, haha. Next up: something magical.
I’ve been picking smoothie recipes from my collection of low sugar recipes – this one is the french toast protein shake from Dashing Dish. I love Katie!
We were at a wedding last weekend and I didn’t bring my blender…so I brought the next best thing…my Blender Bottle! I grabbed some yogurt from the hotel breakfast room and added some milk and Vega sport protein powder. NO EXCUSES for me. I’m going to KILL this challenge!
Hoping you’ll have a magical day full of fruits and veggies! xo
Do you get creative with your smoothie toppings?

I love toping my smoothies with anything light enough to float – Hemp Hearts, Chia Seeds, Kamut Puffs, More Cinnamon/Ginger/Cloves/Nutmeg, A dollop of Soy Butter, Sesame Seeds, A slice of fruit – Garnishes make a smoothie so much prettier. Good for you for keeping up with the challenge despite being at a hotel.
Soooo, i should schedule my next run to go by your house and you’ll meet me in the street with a cool yummy smoothie to power the rest of my run?
DEAL!
Pavement Runner – Haha, why not!? :)
Molly – LOVE those topping ideas!
I have never topped a smoothie with anything….I usually will add chia seeds into my blendtec with everything else. I’ll have to give smoothie toppings a chance!
I’ve been without my blender for 2 months now!!!!! But I’m picking it up next week and I am so so so beyond excited! This post has made my brain go crazy with ideas… thanks :)
OMG that does look SOOOOOO YUM! I don’t eat/drink smoothies really at all, but I am thinking MAYBE I should start! LOL
I’ve never been a topper with smoothies. I should give it a whirl!
I love to put toppings on my smoothies, too. I also like finding them at the bottom of my cup when I’m done. They’re a special treat.
I like to change the flavor of my smoothies every now and then, otherwise it starts getting boring. “Topping it up” is an excellent idea!
