Back on the Road
Once again I’m blogging on the road (currently at Starbucks with a delicious no-sugar iced coffee). Most of my readers probably know this already, but I sing in a family band. We’ve been singing together for years and touring around US and Canada. It’s an amazing adventure.
This tour we’re going across Canada, from Saskatchewan to P.E.I. I love seeing more of my beautiful Canada and this time, I have 7 weeks to do it.
Although saying goodbye to family, friends, and my home is always a little sad…the adventure is always worth it. Traveling is a rich experience…and for me, it’s essential…I’m not a homebody.
(I like traveling with my sister…)
The one thing that can be a challenge with traveling is eating healthy…but at the same time, it’s kind of a fun challenge…trying to pick out the lowest sugar snack at the gas station, choosing a low-calorie, protein rich meal at a restaurant/hotels, and buying veggies/fruits at the grocers. I love it.
This isn’t to say I don’t indulge. Part of the fun of travel is trying new foods. Part of the experience of P.E.I is their creamy fish chowders or a small town’s well known apple fritters.
My motto is eat healthy most of the time – and then it won’t matter when you enjoy something more decadent. Food is a beautiful gift from God and He wants us to treat it like a gift…enjoy everything in moderation.

(Lots of good reading…love this book – Food Blogging for Dummies)
Here are some of my tips for eating well and working out when traveling:
- Tips for healthy traveling
- Shopping for groceries on the road (part 1)
- Shopping for groceries on the road (part 2)
- Making the most of rest stops
- Healthy snacks for traveling
What do you think about food when traveling? Any healthy travel tips for me?

we’ve been traveling like crazy and moving as well, so I understand the balance of seeking out healthy foods and sometimes just being ok with what’s available with no guilt. Have fun!
Hey! Can’t wait to see you in a few weeks! Enjoy your trip across the country!
I love that you are in a family band and get to travel like that. Have fun on your latest adventure :-)
Thanks so much for picking up a copy of my book! Love that photo!
