Study Eats and Wii Zumba

Healthy study eats

Finally this month’s exams are over with! As much as I love what I’m learning with Exercise Science, sometimes my brain feels slightly…how do I put it? The word that comes to my mind is…mushy. Headachey. Tired.

Eating really healthy helps with the whole brain/alertness thing. I can only imagine how overwhelmed my head might be if I didn’t eat healthy along with all of this studying.

I love to start my day with the satiety of protein and brain-boosting fats. I make organic eggs, but fry them in a non-stick pan lightly coated with my favourite organic coconut oil.

For snacks, check out my healthy snack post and you might also want to check this post out too, for some of my lunches I like to pack…especially if you’re a student like me!

Love my protein!

You guys might remember me posting on twitter a while back, about me trying a zumba class for the first time…well, it may or may not have been a disaster. I don’t see myself as a graceful, coordinated person, so I don’t even want to imagine how it actually looked.

Well, a few days ago I had the opportunity to try it again. I was game, because…well, it was with just a couple friends in their basement…on the Wii game. I actually started out good…and was titled the “Zumba Master”. From there, it went downhill and I was christened “Zumba Beginner” very soon after.

Zumba

Cest la vie!

The zumba night was a lot of fun though, because I was also able to work on my sushi making skills. Honestly, it’s been so long…I felt like I had forgotten how. We made sushi with seasoned salmon, avocado, and cucumber. Amazing. If you’re a sushi lover, but don’t do the whole meat thing, you might like this vegan sushi recipe.

Do you make your own sushi? What do you think of the whole zumba craze?

Zumba is so much fun! It doesn’t even feel like a workout and makes the time pass so quickly!

I make my own sushi from time to time. Sometimes it’s raw and other times I use cooked rice or quinoa.

The whole Zumba craze cracks me up. I had some Zumba DVDs from when Jacob was a baby (He’s 10 now) that I would do in the privacy of my home. It was fun at the time, but I had no idea it would become this popular. Too funny :-)

I need to experiment in making my own sushi at home. I love it but my hubs doesn’t. Making it at home would be a good way to get my fix in! :)

I haven’t done zumba but it looks like such a good workout!

I’ve taken a few Zumba classes but it’s nothing that I’ve stuck with. I like dancing around and it was fun when I use to go with my daughter.

I’ve never made or ate sushi…I’m scared I won’t like it.

Can you believe I’ve never had sushi? So many opportunities I’ve turned down! lol … :/

I make my own sushi… Salmon skin handrolls to be exact, but NO rice – I stuff them with spaghetti squash and spinach! :D Seriously ADDICTED!!
