Amazing Abs Workout and Bulu Boxes
This month has been amazing! Doing the July Smoothie Challenge has not only upped my nutrition, I’ve also really been focused on my fitness goals. Pretty much every day of this month (apart from my rest day, Sunday) I’ve been getting about an hour of workouts in daily.
Sometimes I have to do it early in the morning or late at night, but I’m getting it in!
I’ve taken a break from running, so I’m starting to get back into it again and there are lots of sweaty (actually liquid awesome – right Carissa?) pics on Instagram to prove it. (follow me on Instagram – username: colourfulpalate)
I’ll often try to sneak in a 5-15 minute workout once I get up (before breakfast) – it just sort of wakes me up in the morning and gets me going. This is the one I did this morning and let me tell you…my abs were burning! It took me 12 minutes to complete 2 circuits (with a quick rest between sets). Note: I counted each side as one rep.
I also finished this workout with a full bridge for a nice stretch. This is a great little ab workout to pair with your normal workout or run. If you try it, let me know below what you think of it.
Bulu Boxes
It seems that these subscription boxes are becoming a huge trend and I can see why. It’s really fun to be able to try new products every month and really, who doesn’t like getting a parcel full of goodies every month!
Bulu Box just sent me a box a little while ago, so I wanted to share what I thought of it.
Most of the goodies were samples of products, but they did send a full size bottle of vitamin D. I was really happy about this since my nutritionist said this was something I should be taking. Pure Matters seems like a really great company with great, pure ingredients. I’ll be taking this just on the days where I don’t get some sunshine. It also came with a $10 giftcard to try some of Pure Matter’s other supplements.
They also sent some samples of Life Equals omega-3 fish oil and a Cellucor fat burner. Honestly, it was such a small sample I can’t tell you what I think of either one of them. However, regarding the fish oil, I think that’s a great supplement to include daily in your diet.
I was super excited about this Night Food bar. I can’t tell you how many times I go to bed and I’m like…shoot, I’m hungry (which makes it hard to sleep!). This bar actually is supposed to help you sleep, it’s low in calories, and has some protein in there to make you feel full. I broke it in two and had a half for a couple nights when I had trouble sleeping. It tasted like oreos which was another bonus.
I’m so glad Bulu Box introduced me to RevHoney! It’s meant to give you the carbs/sugars you sometimes need in a tough workout. It comes in a tube so it’s super convenient to stick in your pocket for when you need it. What I loved is that it was only two ingredients: honey and freeze-dried peaches. It tasted great (now I’m excited about making my own energy gel like that!) and really gave me that extra energy when I went running.
Thanks Bulu Box for sharing the fun with me! Disclaimer: I was not paid to give a review – all the opinions are my own.
What’s your favourite ab exercise? Have you gotten a subscription box before?

I have yet to try that nighttime bar – I’m excited now since you said it tastes good!
I keep seeing these bulu boxes and it’s such a neat concept! I love the idea of that nighttime bar! I am always hungry right before but hesitant to eat anything! These would be perfect for me!
Very cool!
My favorite abs workout has recently become the short 15 minute Yoga workout on Bob Harper’s Inside Out Method Yoga for the Warrior. This is not an easy yoga video! He kicks your butt!
I’ve seen those boxes before but I know that half the stuff would just sit around. Then again, the one I saw was makeup. I would probably use this stuff!

love doing plank for total ab/core workout
and v ups too
and love me my bulubox along with klutchclub, conscious box, natures box :)
I love the Ab workout!!! I need to strengthen mine up!! I knly have 3 weeks to fit into my dress!
Wow, the box is pretty cool! I hate ab exercises, lol. I keep telling myself I need to get back on them and never do.
I have been seeing boxes everywhere online! Great little ab circuit!
That nighttime bar sounds tasty! And sleeping well is a plus too. I love my birchbox, but I need to get a “health” focused box for sure!
I love the Ab Workout and am going to incorporate some moves into my next ab day in the gym. Thanks for the inspiration.
And a NightFood bar? Never would have thought of that. Interesting!
These boxes look very intriguing; I think they don’t ship to Canada though.
Love your abs workout, but remember, posterior chain is important too! Add some back extensions and bridge poses to balance out your core. Ask me how I know; overuse injuries and unbalanced workouts!
Awesome ab workout. My favorite ab exercise is using an ab wheel. It really helps me hit my lower abs. That’s so important after having two kids.
Speaking of my kids, I posted about them again on my blog, along with another smoothie update. Can you believe I actually have a plan for the rest of the month? I’ve written up a list of which smoothies to do next and the kids have helped pick out the toys to go with them. I’m so anxious to make them all.
Thanks for the workout! I love the subscription boxes too – I currently subscribe to two. Birchbox is beauty products and so much fun to get a box full of samples every month! I also get For the Makers which is a craft box. I’m interested in getting the Foodzie box and Klutch Box too. There’s a cute one for dogs too called Bark Box. I wish I could afford them all!
I love V-ups! But I have to say that planks and plank variations are my favorite :)
Angela~ I think I need to try that DVD – sounds like a killer!
Shannomarie~ I love it! I can’t wait to see all the vegan recipes you’re going to make!
I’m saving that abs workout! I need something in writing to hold me accountable. Otherwise I do what I feel like and call it good. :)
Yes I totally agree with you about workouts. If I don’t do my workout first thing in the morning, the day will fly by and I won’t get it done at all.
Those boxes look amazing!
Tamara ~ I don’t know if you noticed, but I did talk about doing bridges after the workout! Thanks for the awesome tip!
Thanks so much for sharing! The Bulu Box does seem cool – so I think I’ll give it a try :)
Awesome ab workout too – think I’ll do it right now!
