Tips for the Challenge & July Goals
I am beyond excited about the response for the Colourful Smoothie Challenge for July! Seriously, you guys are awesome! It’s going to be one awesome month!
Okay, so before Sunday comes upon us (July 1st), I want to clarify a few things for the challenge.
Cassandra emailed me with a great question…
“Hello Charissa! I am going to attempt to make it through your smoothie challenge! It sounds exciting and very interesting :) I just wanted to clarify the point system. All but the tweeting photos are a one time point opportunity correct? For example, if I make one of your smoothies I get the points just the one time? Thank you and I look forward to the challenge!!!” Cassandra – @runfortoday
Answer: You can make as many of my smoothies as you want for points (it will count as 3 – not in addition to the 1 point of a smoothie).
I think it’s great if you share the image and share about the challenge on your site too – I won’t set a limit on that, but in order for me to count the points for it you MUST link back to me (so I can keep track). I’d love it if you included any of the images from the initial challenge post to it!
You can share about it with your friends on Twitter up to 3x (or as much as you want, but it will be only up to 3x!)
The 5 points for drinking a smoothie every day of the month is just once.

Hope that added some clarity! The whole challenge is really quite simple, just tweet me your smoothies WITH the hastag #colourfulsmoothie – some of you have been tweeting already (thanks ladies!), but are using different hashtags from #colorfulpalate, #thecolourfulpalate, and #colorfulsmoothies. There’s just too many to track. I will be counting the hastags with #colourfulsmoothie – spelled the Canadian way. However, because most of you are from the US, I will check the hastag #colorfulsmoothie as well. Those are the ONLY TWO hastags I will be counting for points.
It’ll also help you keep updated to the going-ons if you’re following me on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram (username: colourfulpalate). Or else you can subscribe.
Also, if you want to qualify for the weekly prize you must comment and say you’re participating in the challenge on the main post!
If you have any other questions just let me know on my Facebook or my email (charissa@colourfulpalate.com)
Okay…whew…now that we’ve got that covered, I wanted to let you into some of my other goals for the July Challenge.
As you know, I’m going to be taking my one smoothie a day just a step further – it will replace one meal in my day, probably breakfast or lunch. I’m traveling quite a bit in July too, so I’ll be bring my Vega Energizing Smoothie & FitMixer Protein (and bring some nut milk) so I can still keep to my goals without a blender! A few people have mentioned they’re on-the-go too, so these smoothie pouches are a FANTASTIC way to stick to the challenge!
(Mango Strawberry Protein Shake)
I’ll also be really upping my water intake. My goal is to drink half my body weight in ounces (so if you weigh 200 pounds you’d drink 100 ounces of water in a day).
(love my camelback water bottle!)
Take my GNC ProSculpt before I exercise and try to get a good workout in 5-6 days a week. Okay people, I am loving ProSculpt – it gives me tons of energy for a workout, which is awesome for me (I get weak working out with breakfast, NOT SO with this!) I took it before I did Jillian’s Shed and Shred this morning (1 hour and 15 min. of pure intensity – whew!) and it totally gave me that extra edge to push trough the hard parts. After that workout, my hair was so wet it looked like I stepped out of the shower – such a crazy intense workout!)
I’ll also be tracking my protein, fiber, and calories on MyFitnessPal (awesome app I just discovered – here are some more of my favourite fitness apps!). I love the bar scanning feature – makes it SO easy!
Eat more of this goodness…
And take my nature’s multivitamin daily…how can I say how much I love spirulina!
I have more goals, but I’m running out of time! I have to leave to do a concert tonight, so I have lots to do before I go! I’m SO excited about doing this with you…I have some fun reviews coming up, recipes, and workouts!
What are your goals for July and this challenge?

I am loving this challenge!
Have a fun night! I love my spirulina too, but haven’t taken it in vitamin form before!
There is so much goodness in this blog post!!!
I love your additional goals for July! I am trying to make some up for myself as well :) Best of luck! Looking forward to Sunday!!!
Love this challenge!!! Smoothies are delicious and I love getting creative.
I already failed at a smoothie challenge last month, but this one seems so much fun! I’ll check to the tags now and again for some ideas at least.
How do you plan to “take” spirulina daily? Are you going to put it in your smoothie every day? How much do you normally put in each smoothie? Thank you!
Rachel ~ I’ll take it every day in tablet form (6 tablets), except on the days that I take 1 teaspoon of it in a smoothie or juice. The brand I use is Nutrex Hawaii and I’m SO impressed with it.
I need to set a goal to increase my water intake too…especially when we’re having a heat wave!
I always have my smoothie with a bit of a solid protein (usually toast with a nut butter), and that will generally be my breakfast.
My goal is to try all sorts of recipes that I may not have tried before. I have an ongoing goal to get my five cups of fruits and veggies in each day; this is such a wonderful way to do it.
Vanity-wise, I want to shrink that belly, which is still a little too “poochy” for my liking.
I am also participating in the Hundred Pushups Challenge over at For the Sole, so I’m hoping that having a healthy smoothie each day will help build my upper body strength (well, probably really recovery) so that I can get to that 100 mark sooner (my baseline a few weeks ago was five – FIVE – before I had to stop).
Great goals! Mine crashed and burned but I’m gearing up to kick July’s butt!

PS. I love the My Fitness Pal app too!
