Saying Goodbye to Grandma…

Last week my Grandma left this earth to be with the Lord Jesus whom she loved so deeply.

Grandma 01

We were all very close to her. In fact, she and my Grandpa lived with us for quite a long time.

I miss her vivacious spirit, her sparkly “never-give-up” attitude, love for the Lord, and her strength. She was the funnest Grandma and would get so giddy playing Rook. She’d laugh so hard at her own jokes…I loved her sense of humor. She had such spunk, even at 90 years of age!

My sister and I were with her an hour before she died and we were able to sing to her, read scripture, and talk to her. She wasn’t conscious, but we believe she could hear what we said. It was so hard to say goodbye, knowing this was probably the last time I could kiss her.

An hour later, we received the call that she had died.

We had a lot of tears, but in the end, we are so happy that she is with Jesus now…and she is happier than she ever was.

Grandma and Me 01

Heaven seems a lot closer now…and I’m so grateful that I will see her again. What a wonderful hope of heaven we have when we have given our hearts to God! I can’t imagine going through life without that hope…

Thank you to the ones who have already been praying for our family and sending lots of virtual hugs through Twitter! You guys are SO sweet and I appreciate you all.

I’ll be back to blogging in a few days…right now there’s just so much going on with planning and getting our lives organized…not to mention, my studies.

I love you Grandma, so glad this world isn’t all there is! I’ll see you again!

I don’t know what it is about this time of year. I lost my grandmother-in-law, followed by my grandfather (he lived with my family for a while, too) and now I’m reading this post about your grandmother. She reminds me of my grandmother, who is the only grandparent I have left. She is very spiritual, too, and has already been telling us not to fear when her time comes. She sees death as her passage to Heaven to be with God and those who have passed away before her. That’s a wonderful way to see it.

You and your family are in my prayers. Love you!

I was blog hopping and found my way to yours. I came across this post. I know what its like to lose your grandma. I lost mine back in 1995, she was young. It was an unexpected loss for our family, she had a cold and it went down hill from there. My grandmother was my whole world, she was my mother and my best friend. There is not a day that goes by that I dont think of her and wish for one more chance to hear her voice. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family in this healing time.
