Little Steps
Hey guys! I’ve been a bit remiss in my blogging lately…as soon as we came back from our long trip away, we had 9 of my nieces and nephews here for over a week while their parents went on a holiday…so as you can imagine, we had a lovely, wild, crazy time here.
But last night I was finally able to get a little workout in. I ran 3 miles. But the great part is…I did it in about 27 minutes! YES! It’s a new record for me…I’m working to see if I can do 3 miles in 25 minutes, that’s my next goal! I seem to have more energy at night…
I guess the reason I was so happy about it, was just because I’m so out of shape since my trip. Though I really tried to get workouts in on the road, it was really hard to fit it in. One night, excited to find our hotel had a gym, I decided to work out for an hour. And I worked out hard with a full body routine. It wasn’t a crazy workout, it’s something I’d do at home, no problem. But it was too hard of a workout for a body out of shape and that night I got sick. Like flu-ish sick (that happened to me after my first half marathon, when I didn’t train properly).
Anyway, now that I’m home…I’m learning that when you’ve been out of your routine for a while, you have to work back into it slooooowly. Something I’m not good at.
But one thing I am good at…is eating this:
I had my Vegan Banana Oatmeal Pancakes for breakfast this morning. Amaaazing. They just melt in your mouth. I did a new version of them today. I made them gluten free, replacing the wheat flour with more oatmeal (now my Dad can enjoy them!). I’ve had a reader say that they replaced the wheat flour with buckwheat flour and they turned out great, so there are two gluten-free versions for you!
Now I’m off to my workout…maybe a 15 minute core workout and a 3 mile run.
Keep your eyes open for a special giveaway that I’ll be doing very soon! (grin)
Do you have more energy for night workouts or morning workouts?

I’m more of a morning workout girl, mainly because I can get it out of the way before the kids wake up. Otherwise, Hayden likes to do yoga poses with me. So cute.
Sorry to hear you got sick. I sometimes have that happen when I push myself too hard.
Very cute shoes and yummy looking pancakes. I like to make the ones in Brendan Brazier’s “The Thrive Diet” book. Now you’re giving me a craving for them :-)
Definetly more of a morning workout gal! Those pancakes look fab :D
definitly morning workouts only :) if I miss it in the morning, sometimes I make it in the afternoon, but never in the evening…
P.S. lately I switched running for cardio dance and I love it :))) besides I can do it from home and don’t have to go out in the cold.
That sounds like a fantastic workout! I love working out in the morning because I think I make healthier choices all day long that way.
Wishing you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving!
Good job girl, that would be a record for me too!
Theoretically, I have more energy in the morning. Realistically, I rarely get around to exercising before late afternoon.
I have no energy at night after working all day or studying all evening. I usually have tons of energy at 11 a.m., when I have to teach. Go figure.
I get up to work out in the morning! Right now, I only have time for 10-20 minute workouts.
Those pancakes look fabulous! Such a stunning picture
And I am much more of a morning workout person, I like to get it done early :)
I absolutely love your blog and find a lot of your post’s to be precisely what I’m looking for. Would you offer guest writers to write content for yourself? I wouldn’t mind composing a post or elaborating on a lot of the subjects you write regarding here. Again, awesome blog!
