Making the Most of Rest Stops
And nope…I don’t mean resting. I mean working it out.
Yup. Mini workouts.
I can’t get over how fast I lose my fitness level when I travel. It’s ridiculous. At home, I workout pretty much every day, but on the road…it’s impossible to get it in daily. Which is why it’s super important to me to get that workout in, small as it might be, whenever I can.
Something is better than nothing. Always is. Sure, you’re not going to build muscle, but it’ll help you not lose it. Sitting in a vehicle/bus/car all day long is not going to give you the lean, toned look. That’d be cool if it did though. Nice thought.
So…what little things can we do when you have five minutes? (Note: you don’t have to do these in dress shoes like I did. Totally optional.)
I love this one. Do lunges. You can do 30 on each leg or else 60 of alternative lunges.
Triceps dips. I do this right on the running board of our van. Do at least 20 reps. I hate these with all my heart. You can so tell…I’m not just squinting at the sun. I’m frowning.
Wall pushups. Make yourself do at least 50 reps…got it in you…do a 100. Why? Because that’s your arm workout.
Side lunges. 20 reps on each side. At least.
Finish up with some stretches. I did a quad stretch, sit down stretch, and some triceps stretches.
There. After that, I deserved 4 more hours of sitting with an abundance of snacks in my lap. Not really.

Great job!!! You are inspiring ;)
Yes! I love it! I like to workout while I’m cooking, haha. While I’m waiting for something to finish baking or sauteeing I’ll squeeze in a few squats or lunges =)
Love it! I have never seen anyone do lunges in flats before. LOL!
