I’m not usually excited about Mondays…but last week I was thinking about Colourful Palate and my heart was filled with happy. Honestly, there are perks to recovering from my accident. I have more time. Also, I’m getting to the point where I can do a lot more, which is so encouraging. Therefore and forthwith, I’m going to Continue reading »

I’ve been looking for a low calorie, low sugar granola. Turns out those are hard to find.
You know what they say, if you want something done right you need to do it yourself.
Well, ok…maybe that’s not entirely true. I did find one brand that I loved, but it was a bit pricey for me to buy regularly. I decided to make it myself. Turns out it was ridiculously easy.
No baking. No crazy ingredients.
Just stirring all that superfood goodness.
Chia Superfood Granola
- 1/2 cup organic buckwheat grouts
- 1/4 cup dried cranberries
- 1/4 cup chia seeds
- 1/4 cup sliced almonds
- 1/4 cup hemp hearts
Nutritional Info (per 2 tbsp): Calories: 70, Fat: 3.5g, Carbs: 8g, Fibre: 2.5g, Protein: 3g
Is it ridiculous to just say that the instructions are…like…just mix.
Well, that was hard.
Just kidding.
So to eat this divine bunch of love…you take 2 tbsp. of cereal and mix it with about 1/2 cup of almond milk and let it sit a couple minutes.
Sounds meager, but the chia seeds expand and make it into a delicious, wholesome breakfast. And you can always have second helpings!
Chia seed fan, yay or nay?

Have you heard of Good Girl Moonshine? For years, there has been a ton of beverages or “detox” drinks including apple cider vinegar. Hearing of all the amazing things about ACV (apple cider vinager) I kept trying them…however, they often left my Continue reading »

It’s high time we have another spirulina recipe again.
Those of you have who followed my blog for a while will know that this green stuff rocks my little world. Why is that, you say…
Well, here are some reasons it’s good for you, but I noticed a huge difference with my hormonal imbalances, energy, and even my skin! Really, I also just like it because it’s a fabulous mufti-vitamin loaded with minerals/antioxidants and I feel like it just covers me in the robe of nutritious righteousness. My favourite brand in the entire world is from Nutrex Hawaii…just thought you should know that. You can also now go buy it…because you will Love. How. It. Makes. You. Feel.
Anyway, I tried something new and decided you should try it.
Guacamole just got holy.
Well, not really…I just said that because it rhymed…but it definitely becomes like an extra, extra, extra superfood. Angelic really.
Spirulina Guacamole
- 1 avocado
- 1 Roma tomato, chopped
- 1 large handful cilantro, chopped
- 1/2 lemon, juiced
- 1-2 tbsp. spirulina*
- 1/4 tsp. sea salt
*Depending on how much you “like” the taste of spirulina
Mash the avocado and then mix everything together. Done. The end.
So while you can have this with crackers of flax chips…I really just like eating it with leaves of Romaine lettuce. The. Best.

Where I live, we’re having issues with the whole spring thing. My birthday happens to fall on the first day of spring, the 20th of March, and despite my insistent belief that I was the one that brought spring to earth…I somehow feel that is now a lie. It just keeps snowing and Continue reading »

I have never been about little changes. Oh no. I’m all about do it all big or go home…
My personality has always been all or nothing…harmonious planning or a beautiful catastrophe. However, over the past few years I’ve been learning that the most effective way to bring change into your life is through baby steps. Small ideas you can turn into actions…and once you get good at those small things, you can tackle bigger ideas Continue reading »

Like me, one of my amazing roommates is a health nut. She’s a genius at creating delicious-ness out of things like…dandelion greens. Once I first tasted her recipe for dandelion pesto, I asked her if I could share the goodness with you.
I’ve only had dandelion greens in smoothies and juices Continue reading »
